Simon Buckingham Shum

University of Technology Sydney

Simon Buckingham Shum is Professor of Learning Informatics at the University of Technology Sydney, where he is Director of the Connected Intelligence Centre (CIC). Simon is a co-founder and Vice-President of the Society for Learning Analytics Research, and has been active in contributing to this new field. His research covers the relationships between learning analytics and educational worldviews, learning dispositions, and analytical/reflective academic writing.

Daniel Burgos

Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR)

Daniel Burgos is Vice-chancellor for Research & Technology, UNESCO Chair on eLearning, and ICDE Chair in Open Educational Resources. He is the Head of the Research Group in eLearning & Social Networks, with intensive activity in European projects focused on Learning Analytics, Recommendation, Personalisation, Mobile Learning, eLearning standards, and other topics.

Li Chen

Beijing Normal University

Vice President of Beijing Normal University,  Executive Director of Capital Institute for the Learning Society, Director of Interactive Media and Distance Learning Lab, and Vice-President of China Association for Information Technology Education in K12.The main research areas of Professor Chen are the theory and practice of modern distance education and life-long education. She undertakes many projects, including research projects at national, provincial and ministerial levels, and  collaborative projects commissioned by industry. She has written more than 10 books and published more than 100 academic papers.

Chris Davies

University of Oxford

Chris Davies is joint convenor of the Learning and New Technologies research group at the Department of Education. His teaching responsibilities include being course director for the MSc in Education, as well as convening the Educational Design and Research Methodology and Learning and Technology pathways of that degree. He supervises several research students in the Learning and New Technologies research group. He is also Vice President of Kellogg College, Oxford University’s college for part-time students.

Chris Dede

University of Harvard

Chris Dede's fundamental interest is developing new types of educational systems to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. His research spans emerging technologies for learning, infusing technology into large-scale educational improvement initiatives, developing policies that support educational transformation, and providing leadership in educational innovation. He is currently conducting funded studies to develop and assess learning environments based on virtual worlds, augmented realities, transformed social interaction, and online teacher professional development. Dede is a leader in mobile learning initiatives and has developed a widely used Framework for scaling up educational innovations. From 2001 to 2004, he served as chair of the Learning & Teaching area at HGSE.

Rebecca Eynon

University of Oxford

Rebecca Eynon holds a joint academic post between the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and the Department of Education at the University of Oxford. Since 2000 her research has focused on education, learning and inequalities, and she has carried out projects in a range of settings (higher education, schools and the home) and life stages (childhood, adolescence and late adulthood). Rebecca is co-editor of Learning, Media and Technology and has published a number of academic articles, reports and conference papers. She is co-author of Teenagers and Technology (Routledge, 2013). Her work has been supported by a range of funders including the BECTA, the Economic and Social Research Council, the European Commission, Google and the NominetTrust. She held a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship exploring the links between Internet use and social mobility in Britain (2013-2014).

Andrew Ho

University of Harvard

Andrew Ho is Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is a psychometrician interested in the properties and consequences of test-based educational accountability metrics.  His research has addressed measures of proficiency, growth, value added, achievement gains, achievement gap closure, college readiness, and course completion. He is a member of the National Assessment Governing Board and chair of the HarvardX Research Committee.

Rory McGreal

Athabasca University

Professor Rory McGreal is s the UNESCO/Commonwealth of Learning Chairholder in Open Educational Resources. He is a professor in the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University– Canada’s Open University based in Alberta, Canada. He is also the director of the Technology Enhanced Knowledge Research Institute (TEKRI). And, he is a co-Editor of the International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (IRRODL), and founder of the OER Knowledge Cloud. Formerly, he served as the Associate Vice President Research.

Justin Reich

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Justin Reich is an educational researcher interested in the future of learning in a networked world. He is the executive director of the PK-12 Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a research scientist in the MIT Office of Digital Learning, and a lecturer in the Scheller Teacher Education Program. He is also a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, and the co-founder of EdTechTeacher, a professional learning consultancy devoted to helping teachers leverage technology to create student-centered, inquiry-based learning environments. He was previously the Richard L. Menschel HarvardX Research Fellow, where he led the initiative to study large-scale open online learning through the HarvardX Initiative, and a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
